FAQs

  • Why is this way of piercing considered gentle and safe?

The device I use to pierce have so many key features that make using it for piercings safe and gentle.

First, when you choose your earring type, it will come in a sterile, single use cartridge that goes into the device. So there is little to no chance of being contaminated. No part of my device comes in contact with who I am piercing - everything that touches you is sterile.

Second, my device is not spring loaded like a piercing gun. Therefore it does not shoot the earring into the ear, possibly causing trauma. Instead, I have full control of the earring going into the ear. With this, I am also able to pierce the ears precisely where I want them to be, limiting having to re-pierce because of poor placement.

Third, the earring itself is used to actually pierce the ear, closing the back of the earring in the process. It is a swift and smooth action, causing little to no discomfort.

  • Can I use my own earrings?

No, you cannot use your own earrings for the piercing. The piercing earrings are sterile and fully enclosed in single use cartridges fitted to the piercing device. The earrings used have a 20-21 gauge post which is ultra-thin and designed specifically for piercings ears.

My earrings are medical grade surgical stainless steel. All Inverness piercing earrings meet the most stringent global standards for nickel release requirements (European Union Nickel Release Directive No. 1907/2006, REACH Annex XVII).

There is a huge variety of earrings to choose from, so I am certain you will find something you love. However, you only have to keep them in for 6 weeks (or 12 weeks for cartilage) and then you can change them out as much as you want!

  • What age can I or my infant get an ear piercing?

I love to pierce infants - however, I do require that the first DPT vaccination be administered (usually somewhere between 2 and 3 months) prior to the appointment. Aside from that, any and all ages are welcome!

  • Can I swim after my piercing?

You should wait 24 hours after your piercing before swimming in a pool that is chlorinated and at least 2 weeks before swimming in oceans, rivers, lakes or ponds.

  • How do you handle COVID/health precautions?

I make sure to take my temperature prior to every appointment. If I feel slightly off, I will give you a heads up and we can discuss whether or not the appointment should be rescheduled and when. Just as I would do it for you, I would expect the same back - if you or your child are under the weather, please inform me so we can work out another date and time. I am a mom of two school aged kids - I completely understand when there are issues that arise and will do my best to fit you back into my schedule!

I will wear a mask upon request and it will be up to each individual client whether they would feel comfortable wearing a mask or going without.

  • How long will it take to heal? And how long until I can change my earrings?

Obviously, healing is different for everyone but on average, for lobe piercings, you want to keep the piercing earrings in for 6 weeks and for cartilage piercings for 12 weeks. You also need to keep earrings in consistently for a year (switching out whenever you want) in order for the piercing to fully heal and the piercing hole not close.

  • What does the piercing come with?

The piercing includes a nurse coming to your home to provide you the ear piercing services, the earrings, aftercare solution and access to me after the piercing if there are any issues, questions or concerns.

Keepsake certificates are included in the fee for either first time piercings or for extra bravery shown during the piercing appointment.

  • Is it going to hurt??

I’m not going to lie, it will hurt a little. I usually say it hurts less than a vaccine or shot. The new piercing will pulse for about 5-10 minutes and then calm down. AND good news, there is never any blood!

For infants, if they seem uncomfortable, I do suggest giving Motrin or Tylenol.

  • Do you offer other types of body piercing?

At this time, I am unable to pierce any other part of the body aside from the ear lobe and cartilage of the ear.

  • I am not happy with my earring placement. Can I get it re-pierced?

Absolutely! I will come back in order to re-pierce your ears if you are unhappy. I will make an appointment with you for 2 weeks out and I will then ask you to remove the earring from your ear in order to allow the piercing hole to heal and close up. I will only charge a minimal fee of $20 just to cover the new earrings used to re-pierce as I would need a brand new set of sterile earrings.

  • What areas do you service?

I service most of Long Island. Since I live in the Town of Brookhaven, if you are in Nassau County, I will have to charge a fee of $20 to cover travel costs.

  • Can I add onto my piercing appointment?

Definitely! The more the merrier. Add-ons are $50 per piercing and can be done at the time of the piercing - no need to let me know ahead of time!
